Community Arts Partners
Mendelssohn PAC is proud to open the doors of our campus to other area arts organizations to help us in our mission to enrich our community by fostering and supporting the performing arts. Some of our community arts partners (CAPs) include:
Greater Rockford Music Teachers Association:
GRMTA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to elevating the standards of music teaching and to encouraging and promoting good music. Mendelssohn PAC is proud to provide support to GRMTA teachers and their students as they use our campus!
InPrint Professional Writer’s Group:
In Print, a professional writer’s organization, provides resources and education to support individuals in their craft. Mendelssohn PAC serves as a home base for InPrint’s activities including meetings and book fairs.
Kantorei, The Singing Boys of Rockford:
Kantorei’s mission is to provide quality music education through a vast array of music to boys of a range of ages while instilling the rewards of self discipline, responsibility, and dedication towards common goals. Kantorei operates and rehearses directly from Mendelssohn PAC’s campus.
MusiCamp is a collaboration of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, Rockford Public Schools, and Mendelssohn PAC. Three week-long camps are each designed to reinforce instrumental music skills in beginning and intermediate band and orchestra students in middle and high schools.
Rockford Area Arts Council’s ArtsPlace:
ArtsPlace is an innovative program that provides Rockford area youth ages 14-18 with job training in the arts. Mendelssohn PAC’s campus is given energy by the bright and talented youth in this program during the months of July and August.
Rockford Art Guild:
The Rockford Art Guild (RAG) is a supportive and encouraging group of people who have a strong passion for the arts. Their mission is to promote, exhibit, and preserve visual art, focusing on education and creative exploration. RAG fills our historic Emerson House with their beautiful work and holds meetings, classes, and exhibitions on the Mendelssohn PAC campus.
Rock N’ Roll Institute:
Start a band on Monday… Play a show on Friday. Rock N’ Roll Institute is held during the last two weeks of June on the Mendelssohn PAC campus and gives middle and high school students the experience of working together in a band and performing for audiences throughout the local community. Starting this year, Mendelssohn PAC will host Rock N’ Roll Institute bands in a concert series of their own!
Jacques Saint-Cyr and Maria E. Castello teach and perform tango in Milwaukee, Madison and Rockford. They give classes at Mendelssohn PAC in the fall through spring seasons.
Youth Against Violence Organization:
YAVO promotes high self-esteem, determination, persistence, high academic achievement, and community involvement in youth and young adults through the arts of music and dance. Mendelssohn PAC is thrilled to welcome this organization to our campus as they return to the Rockford area.
To present exciting, personal, interactive music experiences and to enrich our community by fostering and supporting the performing arts.
