Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center is proud to be home to the award winning Mendelssohn Chorale. Founded in 1975, the Mendelssohn Chorale is one of northern Illinois’ premier vocal ensembles. The Chorale is composed of skilled choral musicians from the greater Rockford area. Under Marti Bein’s direction, the 110-voice choir has grown into a three-tiered ensemble consisting of the large choir, a select chamber choir and Il coro piccolo, an ensemble of twelve. Besides performing in Mendelssohn PAC’s concert series, the Chorale has been the official chorus of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) since 1999.
Martha Bein, conductor the Mendelssohn Chorale since 1994, is a multi-faceted musician with extensive experience in conducting, vocal performance, musical theater, education, and church music. She provides a rewarding experience for Chorale members who improve and excel under her direction.
